Job summary

Wilson Lumber Company is seeking a Production Supervisor to oversee day-to-day millwork production at the Huntsville, AL plant. You will coach a shift of production employees, prioritize jobs, ensure safety compliance, and maintain a clean, efficient workspace while meeting deadlines.

The role requires strong communication, leadership, and analytical skills, with prior operations leadership experience and a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of industry experience required.
  • Minimum 3+ years in operations leadership roles.
  • Strong communication and leadership capabilities in a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

  • Coach the production team to produce and prioritize jobs and reorganize to meet deadlines.
  • Comply with all OSHA safety requirements and promote safe practices.
  • Communicate with management and staff to ensure production objectives are met.
  • Organize workflow according to workload to complete the production schedule.
  • Oversee staff scheduling and time-off requests.
  • Monitor quality and accuracy of all orders.
  • Maintain minimal equipment waste and abuse.
  • Provide safety training as required and conduct performance reviews.
  • Initiate disciplinary actions per company policy.
  • Manage production costs and improve profitability; report to management.
  • Maintain clean, safe work environment; uphold core values.

Role Summary:The Production Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day production at a Millwork Plant. Coaches, motivates and supports the production crew, applying a team approach and maintaining open communication with the staff.Scope of the Position:This position is responsible for the production team at the Huntsville, AL Millwork Plant. Direct reports include approximately 15 25 production employees.Responsibilities:Responsibilities expected of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:Coach the production team to produce and prioritize jobs and, when necessary, reorganize to meet deadlines and updatesComply with all OSHA safety requirementsCommunicate effectively with the management staff and the production team, informing and updating them regularly to ensure that production objectives are metEnsure company policies and procedures are followedOrganize workflow according to workload to ensure the completion of the production scheduleOversee all staff scheduling, time off requestMonitor quality and accuracy of all ordersEnsure the completion of all duties with minimum waste and abuse of equipmentEnsure employee safety training is conducted as requiredProvide a positive, motivating example for employeesConduct training or authorize training of production employeesConduct formal performance reviews per the companys policy. Initiate disciplinary action according to company policy.Take all necessary action to manage production cost and improve profitInform Manager of equipment and production concernsMonitor ongoing/production issues and provide clear communications and resolutionsMaintain a clean and safe work environmentFollow Wilson Lumbers core valuesPerform the duties of the Millwork Manager in the Millwork Managers absencePosition Qualifications:Strong commitment to creating a work environment where employees want to do their bestExcellent oral and written communication skillsStrong analytical skillsSelf-Starter requiring little to no directionStrong interpersonal skillsModerate computer skillsExceptional organizational skillsAbility to think strategicallyProven track record of meeting business objectivesMust have a proven track record in effectively managing operational strategy, safety programs, and customer satisfactionEducation and Experience:Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of industry experienceA minimum of 3+ years experience in operations leadership rolesPhysical Requirements:Must be able to stand for long periods of timeLift at least 50 poundsAble to wear all required Personal Protective EquipmentYou will be expected to follow any other job related instructions and to perform other job related duties as requested by management.
