Job summary

Bestmark National is a premier design-build firm in the U.S. located in Irvington, NJ. We seek a CNC Programmer to develop, test, and optimize machine programs for architectural millwork and casework.

The role requires 5+ years in CNC programming, and strong expertise with AutoCAD, Rhino, and Alphacam; HOMAG experience is a plus. On-site, full-time position supporting production and shop teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering, CS, Manufacturing or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of CNC Programmer experience in architectural millwork and casework.
• Minimum 5 years of AutoCAD experience.
• Minimum 5 years of Rhino experience.
• Minimum 5 years of Alphacam or other CAM software experience.
• Experience with HOMAG CNC machines is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret production drawings and CAD models.

Responsibilities

• Analyze production drawings, CAD models, and work orders to develop CNC programs.
• Develop, test, modify, and optimize CNC programs for accurate dimensions and efficient cycles.
• Utilize CAD/CAM software (AutoCAD, Rhino, Alphacam) to translate designs into programs.
• Determine cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for wood components and materials.
• Optimize machining processes to reduce production time and improve productivity.
• Review programming requirements and verify details before production.
• Troubleshoot CNC programming and machining issues and provide shop support.
• Collaborate with CNC Operators and Production personnel on questions.
• Assist with CNC program testing and revisions for production needs.
• Maintain organized CNC programs and production files.
• Communicate concerns or delays to Supervisor and Production Manager.
• Follow quality control, safety, and housekeeping standards.
• Perform other duties as directed by Supervisor and Production Manager.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a CNC Programmer, located in Irvington, NJ. The CNC Programmer will be responsible for developing, testing, and optimizing CNC programs used in the production of custom architectural millwork and casework. This position will analyze production drawings, CAD models, and work orders to create accurate machine-ready programs while supporting efficient production cycles.

The CNC Programmer will work closely with the shop, CNC operators, and Production Management to resolve technical issues and ensure CNC programming supports Bestmark National’s quality and production requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Analyze production drawings, CAD models, and work orders to develop accurate CNC programs.
• Develop, test, modify, and optimize CNC programs to ensure accurate dimensions and efficient production cycles.
• Utilize CAD/CAM software, including AutoCAD, Rhino, Alphacam, and other CAM software, to translate designs into machine-ready programs.
• Determine and select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feed rates for wood components and related materials.
• Optimize machining processes to simplify production time and enhance productivity and efficiency.
• Review programming requirements and verify dimensions and machining details prior to production.
• Troubleshoot CNC programming and machining issues and provide technical support to the shop.
• Work with CNC Operators and Production personnel to address programming and machining questions.
• Assist with CNC program testing and make necessary revisions to support production requirements.
• Maintain accurate and organized CNC programs and related production files.
• Communicate programming concerns, production issues, or potential delays to the Supervisor and Production Manager.
• Follow all company quality-control, safety, and housekeeping standards.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as directed by the Supervisor and the Production Manager.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Computer Science, Manufacturing, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a CNC Programmer in architectural millwork and casework.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with AutoCAD.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with Rhino.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with Alphacam or other CAM software.
• Experience with HOMAG CNC machines is a plus.
• Strong understanding of CNC programming and machining processes.
• Ability to read and interpret production drawings and CAD models.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Able to work independently and with a team with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work overtime when needed.

Estimated Salary Range: $38.00 – $45.00 per hour
