Job summary

Bestmark National is seeking a full-time Estimator in Irvington, NJ to review project documents and develop accurate estimates for custom architectural millwork. The role collaborates with Project Management, Engineering, Purchasing, Production, and other stakeholders to support budgeting and project success.

The Estimator will analyze drawings, quantities, labor, materials, and vendor pricing, coordinate with Purchasing for pricing and lead times, and help prepare bids and proposals.

Qualifications

• Experience estimating custom architectural millwork and casework is strongly preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, shop drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
• Strong understanding of millwork materials, fabrication methods, and installation practices.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Experience with estimating, takeoff, or project-management software is preferred.
• Able to work independently and effectively with a team with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work overtime when needed.

Responsibilities

• Review architectural drawings, millwork shop drawings, specifications, schedules, and other project documents to determine project scope.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for custom millwork, casework, cabinetry, fixtures, and related architectural components.
• Develop estimates for materials, labor, fabrication, finishing, delivery, installation, and other project-related costs.
• Obtain and review vendor and subcontractor quotations for materials, products, and services.
• Analyze drawings and specifications to identify project requirements, exclusions, assumptions, and potential scope issues.
• Verify quantities, dimensions, material requirements, and other estimating information for accuracy.
• Coordinate with Purchasing to obtain current material pricing, availability, and lead-time information.
• Work with Production and Engineering to understand fabrication requirements, labor needs, and manufacturing considerations.
• Communicate with Project Management regarding project scope, cost impacts, and estimating assumptions.
• Identify discrepancies, omissions, and potential risks within project documents before estimates are finalized.
• Assist with budget analysis and provide accurate cost information to support project planning and development.
• Maintain organized estimating files, historical pricing information, takeoff documentation, and supporting records.
• Assist in preparing proposals and other documentation required for project bids.
• Review project changes and revisions to determine potential cost impacts.
• Support value-engineering efforts by identifying alternative materials, methods, or solutions when appropriate.
• Monitor changes in material costs, labor requirements, and market conditions that may affect project estimates.
• Ensure estimates are prepared accurately and within required bid deadlines.
• Follow Bestmark National's quality-control and company procedures.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as directed by the Supervisor and Production Manager.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for an Estimator, located in Irvington, NJ. The Estimator will be responsible for reviewing project documents and developing accurate estimates for custom architectural millwork and related construction work.
