Mennel Milling Company in Newton, NC, is seeking a Mill Superintendent to lead milling and elevator operations, drive safety, quality, and efficiency across the plant. This role requires strategic oversight and hands-on leadership in a regulated manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate has 5–10 years of progressive leadership experience in grain handling and food manufacturing, with strong problem‑solving, communication, and team‑building skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Milling Science, Food Manufacturing, Operations, or related field preferred.
• 5–10 years of progressive leadership experience in grain handling, milling, food manufacturing, or industrial operations.
• Proven ability to lead teams and improve operational performance in a regulated manufacturing environment.
• Strong leadership, critical thinking, and decision‑making skills.
• Demonstrated project management and analytical problem‑solving ability.
• Ability to influence and collaborate across departments and organizational levels.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn industry‑specific software systems.
• Ability to pass a respirator fit test and perform job duties while wearing a respirator.

Responsibilities

• Lead all milling and elevator operations to ensure safe, efficient, and high‑quality production.
• Provide strategic direction and operational oversight for department activities.
• Hire, train, coaching, and develop milling and elevator employees.
• Ensure compliance with GMPs, OSHA, HACCP, FSMA, GFSI, sanitation requirements, and company safety programs.
• Maintain an everyday audit‑ready facility and promote a strong food safety culture.
• Lead safety initiatives and ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and corporate EHS programs.
• Manage equipment inventories to support preventative maintenance programs and operational reliability.
• Serve as an active member of the facility Food Safety Team.
• Maintain master sanitation schedules and SOPs related to milling and elevator operations.
• Develop and implement best practices for handling, blending, storage, and transfer of wheat and flour.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, efficiency, quality, and operational performance.
• Collaborate across departments and engage team members in problem‑solving and process improvements.
• Use Mennel’s Mission, Quality, and Safety Statements as guiding principles in decision‑making.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
