Job summary

Magellan Health seeks a Personal Financial Counselor assigned to Springfield, IL, to deliver comprehensive financial counseling to military service members and families at installations. Responsibilities span one-on-one coaching, group briefings, and referrals, across deployment cycles and formation events.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent mix of education and experience), 3+ years in financial counseling, U.S. citizenship, and English fluency (Spanish useful).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• May consider applicants with an associate degree plus 4 years’ experience in lieu of bachelor’s degree.
• May consider applicants with a high school diploma plus 6 years’ experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
• 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
• U.S. citizenship and fluency in English; bilingual in English and Spanish if required by contract.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal financial counseling and management services to service members and families.
• Develop and deliver financial materials and classes/workshops.
• Coordinate and publicize personal financial management education across installations.
• Utilize virtual counseling tools when needed (secure chat, video, etc.).
• Maintain DoD protocol for duty to warn and communicate with leadership.
