Job summary

Magellan Health is seeking a Personal Financial Counselor to deliver comprehensive financial counseling at military installations, guiding service members and families through budgets, seminars, and outreach. You will work with command and POCs to ensure program scope and impact meet installation needs.

Required are a bachelor’s or equivalent experience, 3+ years in financial counseling, U.S. citizenship, and English fluency; Spanish bilingualism may be needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; college degree preferred in a relevant field.
• May consider an associate degree plus 4 years of experience in lieu of bachelor's.
• May consider a high school diploma plus 6 years of experience in lieu of bachelor's.
• 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
• U.S. citizen and fluent in English.
• If required by contract, bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Able to obtain a favorable Tier 2 background investigation.
• Must pass DoDI 1322.34 disclosures for conflicts of interest.
• Must have AFC, CFP, or ChFC certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal financial counseling and management services to service members and families.
• Assist in establishing spending plans for extended absences.
• Develop and disseminate informational financial materials.
• Coordinate and deliver Personal Financial Management classes/workshops.
• Respond to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars.
• Utilize virtual counseling or other electronic communication modes as needed.
• Follow DoD protocol for duty to warn situations.
• Communicate with leadership and participate in supervision and training.
• Participate in in-services, quality improvement, or contract-related activities.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.
