Job summary

Magellan Health in the United States is seeking a Personal Financial Counselor to provide one-on-one and group financial counseling to service members and their families at military installations. You will deliver briefings, referrals, and educational materials.

The role requires 3+ years of counseling experience, U.S. citizenship, the ability to obtain a Tier 2 background check, and bilingual English/Spanish depending on contract. This is an on-site position with coordination with DoD partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; may consider an associate degree plus 4 years’ experience or a high school diploma plus 6 years’ experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
• 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
• U.S. citizen; fluent English; bilingual in English and Spanish if required by the contract.
• Ability to obtain a favorable Tier 2 background investigation.
• Ability to pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
• One of the following certifications: AFC (Accredited Financial Counselor), CFP (Certified Financial Planner), or ChFC (Chartered Financial Consultant).
• Driver License valid in state of employment (if applicable).

Responsibilities

• Provide personal financial counseling services to service members and their families (one-on-one counseling).
• Conduct briefings and presentations; provide referral resources outside counseling sessions as needed.
• Coordinate with installation POCs to ensure program scope and installation needs are met.
• Develop and share informational financial materials; coordinate and provide Personal Financial Management classes/workshops.
• Utilize virtual counseling and other electronic communications (web-based, secure online chat, video teleconference).
• Respond to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars; manage DoD-related protocols as required.
• Participate in supervision, training, quality improvement activities, and other contract duties as assigned.
