Job Description Summary

The Military DoD SkillBridge program is an opportunity for Service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through specific industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during the last 180 days of service. SkillBridge connects Service members with industry partners for real‑world job experiences under Department of Defense Instruction 1322.29. Separated Service members may receive up to 180 days of permissive duty to focus on full‑time training with approved industry partners after approval from a first O-4/Field-Grade commander.

Job Description

GE Aerospace, as a SkillBridge partner, offers real‑world training and work experience in high‑demand technical fields, while evaluating the Service member’s suitability for future employment. Participants will not receive additional compensation from GE Aerospace and will continue to receive military pay and benefits.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Apply knowledge of systems engineering principles, including requirements, interfaces, integration, verification, and operational concepts, to support training content and user understanding.
  • Translate complex systems engineering and networking concepts into clear, practical instruction for operators, technicians, maintainers, and customers with varying technical backgrounds.
  • Develop and maintain training content that reflects system architecture, subsystem interactions, interface dependencies, configuration changes, and engineering updates.
  • Coordinate with engineering and cross‑functional teams to incorporate product updates, configuration changes, design revisions, and new product introduction (NPI) activities into training programs.
  • Support structured system‑level and device‑level troubleshooting instruction to improve learner effectiveness and operational readiness.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for assigned integrated systems, networking devices, and related training programs.
  • Deliver technical training on networking devices and integrated systems, including installation, configuration, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Develop, update, and manage technical training materials, including lesson plans, practical exercises, lab content, digital learning tools, job aids, and customer‑facing instructional materials.
  • Partner with customers and internal stakeholders to identify training needs and develop training solutions that support product, program, and operational requirements.
  • Support training delivery in classroom, virtual, and hands‑on environments, including training conducted at customer locations, as required.
  • Ensure training content remains aligned with current product configurations, engineering intent, and customer use cases.
  • Maintain high standards for training quality, learner engagement, and execution across assigned programs.
  • Ensure applicable student and employee health, safety, and environmental requirements are supported in assigned training activities and facilities.
Basic Qualifications
  • Active Military personnel on their last 180 days of Military service.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in systems engineering, technical training, instructional delivery, maintenance, product support, customer support, or related technical roles.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of systems engineering concepts, including requirements, interfaces, integration, verification, and system‑level operation.
  • Experience training users on integrated technical systems and/or networking devices.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to deliver complex technical information in a clear and effective manner.
  • Ability to travel as required to support customer and training delivery needs.
  • This position requires U.S. citizenship status.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance.
  • Role requires access to U.S. export‑controlled information; employment contingent upon meeting the status of a U.S. Person.
Desired Characteristics
  • Strong understanding of network architecture, secure communications, or integrated technical systems.
  • Experience in curriculum development, instructional design, and adult learning methodologies in a technical environment.
  • Experience delivering virtual, instructor‑led, and hands‑on technical training.
  • Experience supporting new product introduction, configuration changes, and engineering‑driven updates to training content.
  • Ability to deliver complex technical messages in a simple context.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, including the ability to influence others and lead small teams.
  • Active security clearance.
