Job Description Summary

The Military DoD SkillBridge program is an opportunity for Service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through specific industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during the last 180 days of service. SkillBridge connects Service members with industry partners in real‑world job experiences under Dept. of Defense Instruction 1322.29. Separating Service members can be granted up to 180 days of permissive duty to focus solely on training full‑time with approved industry partners after the unit commander provides written authorization and approval. GE Aerospace as a Skill Bridge partner offers real‑world training and work experience in in‑demand fields of work while evaluating the Service member’s suitability for the work. Military DoD SkillBridge participants are not eligible for compensation from GE Aerospace, as they continue to receive military compensation and benefits as active‑duty service members.

Job Description

Manage the buying process for a given set of goods. Apply sourcing policy, interface between supplier and entity with respect to specifications and budgets.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Place and follow‑up on purchase orders.
• Manage relationships with suppliers for purchase order execution.
• Manage problems and schedule changes.
• Update ERP.
• Basic knowledge of related job disciplines.
• May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements.
• Explain information; develop skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within the field.
• Convey performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.
• Function with some autonomy but are subject to functional practices and precedents or cover well‑defined policies or review of end results.
• Allow modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness, etc.).
• Use judgment and have the ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated, day‑to‑day problems.
• Prioritize information for data analysis.
• Use technical experience and analytical thinking.
• Use multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own team to arrive at a decision.

Qualifications / Requirements

• Active Military personnel on their last 180 days before separating from Military Service.
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or institution (OR a High School diploma / GED with a minimum of four years’ experience in sourcing, engineering, manufacturing, or materials).
• Minimum of three years in sourcing, engineering, manufacturing, or materials.
