Job Description Summary

The Military DoD SkillBridge program offers service members the opportunity to gain civilian work experience through industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during the last 180 days of service. GE Aerospace is a SkillBridge partner and provides real‑world training and work experience in on‑wing support testing of commercial aircraft engines.

Position

On Wing Support Test Technician

Essential Responsibilities

• Perform shipping & receiving, preparation, de‑preparation, inspection, and testing of aircraft engines in accordance with standard work and all applicable technical references.
• Partner with cross‑functional teams (EHS, quality, engineering, planning, and materials) to support operational initiatives and continuous improvement.
• Document all work performed and book time using the site’s ERP software.
• Perform supplementary shop and housekeeping duties as part of the 5S and Total Proactive Maintenance initiatives.
• Use mechanical ingenuity and make decisions in a fast‑paced production environment while maintaining safety.
• Work flexible shift patterns, including nights, weekends, and holidays; travel to remote international locations for initial training if required.

Basic Requirements

• Active military personnel on their last 180 days of service.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• 1+ years of mechanical experience.
• Federal Aviation Administration Powerplant Mechanic certification.

Preferred Experience

• Commercial high‑bypass turbofan engine testing experience (prepping, de‑prepping, test cell or on‑wing testing, line maintenance, engine changes, LRU removal/install, troubleshooting).
• Leadership experience leading initiatives of moderate scope and impact.
• Background with SAP, Oasis, or similar ERP software.
• Knowledge of borescope inspection.
• Experience operating equipment such as forklift, overhead crane, transporter, and tug.
