Job Description Summary

The Military DoD SkillBridge program offers Service members up to 180 days of work experience with industry partners. GE Aerospace is a SkillBridge partner providing real‑world training in test operations for commercial aircraft engines. Participants receive military compensation and are not paid by GE.

Essential Responsibilities

• Perform all aspects of engine testing, maintenance, inspection, and troubleshooting per Standard Work, technical references, Repair Station Manuals, and GE policies.
• Partner with cross‑functional teams (EHS, quality, engineering, planning, materials) to support operational initiatives and continuous improvement.
• Adhere to technical references such as Aircraft Maintenance Manuals, Engine Shop Manuals, Engine Illustrated Parts Catalogs.
• Follow GE's Flight Deck fundamentals & behaviors, the site’s Repair Station and Quality Control Manual, Training Manual, Test Cell Facility Operations Manual, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Document all work performed and record time using the site’s ERP software.
• Perform supplementary shop and housekeeping duties as part of the site’s 5S and Total Proactive Maintenance initiatives.

Basic Qualifications

• Active military personnel in the last 180 days of service.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• FAA Powerplant Mechanic certification or FAA Form 8610‑2 and ability to obtain a Powerplant License before the start of SkillBridge.

• Familiarity with ERP software such as SAP, Oasis, or similar.
• Knowledge of borescope inspection.
