The Military DoD SkillBridge program provides Service members a last 180 days of civilian training, apprenticeships, or internships with industry partners in line with Dept. of Defense Instruction 1322.29. Separating Service members may receive up to 180 days of permissive duty to train full‑time with approved partners, once the unit commander authorizes the transition. GE Aerospace, as a SkillBridge partner, offers real‑world training and work experience in in‑demand fields while evaluating Service member suitability for future employment. SkillBridge participants continue to receive military compensation and benefits; they are not paid by GE Aerospace.
Job Description
The Maintenance Technician will support GE Aerospace’s Commercial Jet Engine Test Cell equipment, following procedures and documenting work. Key responsibilities include preventative and corrective maintenance, safety compliance, and instrument handling within a total preventive maintenance (TPM) program. The role emphasizes safety, motivation, and continuous learning, with work performed on various commercial jet engine test equipment.
Duties Include
- Preventative Maintenance Inspections
- Corrective Maintenance Repair
- Failure Analysis
- Operation of Specialized Equipment
- Setup, installation, calibration, documentation, and operation of analog and digital instrumentation, data acquisition, and processing systems
- Contributing to the investigation, correction, and documentation of instrumentation or system malfunctions
- Actively participating in multi‑skill development
- Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repairs
- Assisting with safety and environmental inspections to maintain facility compliance
Basic Qualifications
- Active military personnel on their last 180 days of service
- Associate’s degree in a technical field from an accredited school or institution, or a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 2 years of technical experience (including industrial maintenance)
- Physical requirements: regularly lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs; stand or walk for extended periods; climb ladders and works at heights in high‑noise environments; wear required PPE (hearing/eye protection, safety footwear, etc.)

Experience in an Industrial Maintenance Environment
- Strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic skills
- Instrumentation and PLC controls experience
- Experience with hoist systems and their controls
- Experience with maintenance of industrial electrical systems
- Experience with NFPA 70E
- Experience with operation of mobile equipment (forklift, telehandler, personnel lift)
- Computerized maintenance management experience (e.g., Maximo, Oracle, SAP)
- Strong troubleshooting experience
Export Control Requirement
This role requires access to U.S. export‑controlled information. Employment is contingent upon proving status as a U.S. Person: U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. citizen, or asylee/refugee under the Immigration and Naturalization Act.
