Job summary

Rolls-Royce Corporation in Aiken, SC is seeking a Testing Engineer for Military Engines. The role spans development, systems engineering and verification, focusing on diesel engines for military applications and, when needed, commercial heavy-duty engines.

You will coordinate engine development, perform calibrations, and support customers and subcontractors across multiple vehicle and equipment platforms while ensuring compliance with industry and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Automotive Engineering and 3 years of engineering experience testing and calibrating combustion engines in a dynamometer test cell and in the field; or 7 years of engineering experience testing and calibrating combustion engines in a dynamometer test cell and in the field.
  • Ability to bend down, stand over, lay down and complete work tasks within tight confines of engine compartments and rooms for long periods.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull weights in the 20-60 lb range.
  • Must be available to work flexible hours including night shifts and weekends.
  • US Citizenship required for government contract work; sponsorship not offered.
  • Ability to travel 50-80% on short notice domestic and international.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, prepare and perform diesel engine development, calibration and engineering support in test cells and on HiL/MiL systems.
  • Develop and evaluate engineering solutions considering system effectiveness, reliability, configuration, emissions, and cost.
  • Provide field support and troubleshoot failures with customers and sub-contractors.
  • Mentor and train less experienced engineers.
  • Maintain safety, documentation and project budget records.
