Job summary

Heritage Auctions, based in Dallas, seeks a Director to expand the Militaria category by acquiring premier consignments and building a robust client network. You will assess authenticity, negotiate terms, and guide marketing and catalog teams to maximize auction value.

Strong knowledge of military history and negotiating prowess are essential. You will travel to meet collectors, review collections, and represent the firm at industry shows while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in militaria, auction houses, museums, or related fields.
• Deep knowledge of militaria, uniforms, insignia, medals, and related collectibles.
• Proven ability to acquire and manage high-value consignments.
• Experience with appraisals, auctions, or private treaty sales preferred.
• Knowledge of provenance research and authentication practices preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategies to expand the Militaria category.
• Source high-quality consignments from collectors, estates, dealers, museums, and institutions.
• Evaluate militaria for authenticity, provenance, and condition for auction value.
• Negotiate consignor terms and maintain strong relationships.
• Oversee catalog production in collaboration with catalogers, photographers, and marketing.
• Represent Heritage Auctions at shows and events; expand the client base.
• Travel to meet clients, review collections, and vet property for consignment.
• Review catalog text, images, and press materials; ensure regulatory compliance.
