Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bilingual in English and Yup’ik preferred.
  • Meet NCLB Paraprofessional Qualification requirements or equivalent.
  • Two years of education-related work experience preferred.
  • Ability to establish rapport with students, faculty, administration and parents.
  • Ability to live and work in a cross-cultural, rural Alaskan environment.
  • Ability to carry out duties described below.

Responsibilities

  • Work with students in reading during/after regular school hours as set by Title 1/Migrant Education grant.
  • Initiate parent-involved reading activities.
  • Provide extended school and home reading activities as determined by site plan.
  • Follow performance standards per Title 1/Migrant Education plan.
  • Attend meetings and training sessions as scheduled.
  • Collaborate with Library Aide and Site Staff on reading incentive program.
  • Participate in teacher and parent orientation regarding the school program.
  • Support district and school curricular goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
