Job summary

Qualifications

• Meet NCLB Paraprofessional Qualification requirements or equivalent.
• Two years of education-related work experience preferred.
• Ability to establish rapport with students, faculty, administration and parents.
• Ability to live and work in a cross-cultural, rural Alaskan environment.
• Ability to carry out duties described below.

Responsibilities

• Work with students in reading during/after regular school hours as set by Title 1/Migrant Education grant.
• Initiate parent-involved reading activities.
• Provide extended school and home reading activities as determined by site plan.
• Follow performance standards per Title 1/Migrant Education plan.
• Attend meetings and training sessions as scheduled.
• Collaborate with Library Aide and Site Staff on reading incentive program.
• Participate in teacher and parent orientation regarding the school program.
• Support district and school curricular goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• 1. High School Diploma or GED.
• 2. Bilingual in English and Yup’ik preferred.
• 3. Meet NCLB Paraprofessional Qualification requirements (48 semester hours or Associate Degree or pass State-Approved Academic Competency test with a score of 459 or higher).
• 4. At least two years demonstrated successful work experience in education preferred.
• 5. Ability to establish rapport and communications with students, faculty, administration and parents.
• 6. Ability to live and work in a cross-cultural, rural Alaskan environment.
• 7. Ability to carry out successfully the duties described below.

Duties:
