Job summary

SPX Cooling Technologies in Springfield, MO is seeking an experienced Structural and Sheet Metal Welder to join our fabrication team. You will read prints, MIG weld in flat, vertical, and overhead positions, and operate an overhead crane to move frames and subassemblies.

You’ll tune wire feed, current, and gas for consistent bead quality, form components, and document workmanship while adhering to safety standards and lean processes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years welding in a production environment preferred.
• Experience in sheet metal fabrication: punching, shearing, cutting, forming, and assembly.
• Proficient MIG (GMAW) welder.
• Knowledge of measuring instruments and hand tools.
• Ability to read, comprehend, and communicate instructions; write simple correspondence.

Responsibilities

• Operate an overhead crane to move frames, panels, and subassemblies.
• Tune welding leads, current, feed, and shielding gas for GMAW.
• Cut and form components with hand tools, torch, and welding equipment; prep edges and joints.
• Assemble and weld sheet and structural metal in all positions (flat/vertical/overhead).
• Use measuring devices to validate dimensions and tolerances.
• Follow prints and work instructions; document work as needed.
