Job summary

Prime Metal Buildings & Components is seeking a Tack Up Welder to weld steel structural parts and perform MIG welding per drawings. You will select tools, prepare welds with grinders, and inspect finished work to ensure quality while adhering to safety protocols.

Experience in manufacturing or fabrication is preferred. The role requires the ability to work with minimal supervision and meet tight deadlines in a team environment.

Qualifications

• Must be able to pass a 1G Limited Weld Test.
• Prior experience in manufacturing/fabrication shop is preferred but not required.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Positive attitude and desire to work as a team player.

Responsibilities

• Welding steel structural parts as specified per drawing or print.
• Perform MIG welding process.
• Select appropriate welding tools and equipment based on the job requirements.
• Operate grinder to prepare and finish welds.
• Inspect completed welds to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
• Detect and correct defects in welds, such as porosity or incomplete penetration.
• Perform maintenance, troubleshoot repairs, and detect flaws in equipment as needed.
• Adhere to safety protocols and wear PPE.
• Collaborate with other team members to achieve production goals.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
