Job summary

Aerotek is seeking an experienced Structural Welder for a contract role in Gaffney, SC. The position focuses on MIG welding of structural steel, interpreting blueprints, and fabricating assemblies in a shop environment.

The role requires reading welding symbols, using measuring tools, and adhering to safety guidelines in a fast-paced setting. Onsite work with standard shop equipment and material handling support is provided.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as Structural Welder or similar role.
• Proficient in MIG welding on carbon steel.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols.
• Experience in structural steel fabrication shop preferred.
• Ability to use measuring tools such as tape measures, squares and calipers.

Responsibilities

• Perform MIG welding on structural steel components and assemblies.
• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and welding symbols.
• Fabricate, fit, tack, and weld structural steel beams, columns, plates, and components.
• Operate welding equipment, grinders, cutting torches, and other tools.
• Inspect welds to ensure quality and project specs.
• Measure, mark, and lay out materials for fabrication.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow safety policies and OSHA guidelines.
• Assist with material handling using overhead cranes and forklifts.
• Meet production deadlines while maintaining quality.
