Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Produce a portfolio ranging from breaking news to enterprise pieces and scoops for the Midwest audience.
  • Identify sources, conduct thorough research, and develop timely, accurate stories.
  • Write clear, concise news stories on deadline following journalistic style guidelines.
  • Cultivate a deep source network including officials, unions, and cultural figures.
  • Monitor news and generate story ideas to explain regional dynamics.
  • Write with authority, independence, and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and editors across the region.
  • Support journalistic independence and the mission to seek truth.
  • Report to a National Editor.
