Job summary

FUTURO, Inc. is seeking two dedicated organizers to connect immigrant and refugee communities in Middle TN with campaigns and leadership opportunities. Hire within Nashville/Clarksville/Murfreesboro area, strong communication and organizing skills desired.

Position supports time-sharing with TIRRC Votes. Responsibilities include community organizing, education on Know Your Rights, and representing the organization at events.

Qualifications

• Fluency in English and another language commonly spoken by TIRRC constituencies required.
• Experience in community organizing and outreach preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Hold individual and group meetings to deepen relationships and identify leadership opportunities.
• Build a base of engaged leaders to inform and lead advocacy campaigns.
• Engage immigrant and refugee leaders and communities in civic engagement and campaigns.
• Support mobilization to increase participation in events and actions.

About TIRRC

The Tennessee Immigrant & Refugee Rights Coalition (TIRRC) is a statewide, immigrant and refugee‑led collaboration. Our mission is to build power, amplify our voices, and organize communities to advocate for our rights. Our vision is a stronger, more inclusive Tennessee where people of all nationalities, immigration statuses, and racial identities can belong and thrive. TIRRC has a sister organization, TIRRC Votes, which is a separate nonprofit exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(4). Although the two organizations share a common goal, they have separate boards. Certain employees, including the person filling this position, share time between the two organizations.

About The Position

TIRRC is seeking two dedicated organizers to work with our organizing team to connect individuals from one of Middle TN’s many immigrant and refugee communities to TIRRC’s campaigns and leadership development opportunities. The ideal candidate is an established leader within an immigrant and refugee community in the Nashville, Clarksville, or Murfreesboro area, with strong communication and organizing skills.

Responsibilities

Community Organizing

• Hold individual and group meetings to deepen relationships, identify leadership opportunities for members through circles of engagement, and identify important issues affecting the community
• Build a base of engaged leaders who can inform and lead TIRRC’s advocacy campaigns
• Facilitate the engagement of immigrant and refugee leaders, organizations, and communities in civic engagement efforts and in TIRRC’s issue advocacy campaigns
• Support mobilization efforts to increase participation of diverse immigrant and refugee communities in TIRRC events and actions

Community Education

• Lead community education and outreach efforts on Know Your Rights information and services to ensure the community has accurate and timely information about policy changes that impact their lives
• Through one‑on‑one recruitment, trainings using popular education methodology, growth opportunities, and regular meetings where community members craft and evaluate strategy, identify pressing issues and opportunities to organize and build power for their community

Organizational Support

• Represent TIRRC at community events, in the media, and with other organizations as needed
• Ensure all data is maintained in the organizational database
• Participate in significant organizational events

Qualifications

• Belief in TIRRC’s mission and experience with social justice
• Fluency in English and fluency or working proficiency in another language spoken by TIRRC’s constituencies (e.g., Arabic, Amharic, Burmese, Farsi, Kurdish, Korean, Somali, Swahili, Vietnamese) required
• Knowledge of one of Middle Tennessee’s diverse immigrant and refugee communities preferred
• Experience with community organizing and outreach preferred
• Excellent communication skills with experience collaborating in a multidisciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team
• Demonstrated ability and comfort with public speaking
• Availability to work flexible hours, including some nights, weekends, and travel within Middle TN
• Must have reliable transportation

Wage And Benefits

• Hourly Rate: $24/hour for 15‑20 hours per week
• Benefits: All employees receive 24/7 access to an Employee Assistance Program. Part‑time employees receive paid sick time commensurate with the number of hours worked
