Job summary

Clare Public Schools is seeking a part-time Track & Field coach to develop and implement training plans for middle school athletes. You will work closely with high school coaches to teach fundamentals, design schedules, and promote sportsmanship and safety among CPS students.

Must have First Aid and CPR certifications before the 2027 season and pass a background check as part of eligibility. This role involves on-site coaching and collaboration with the athletics staff.

Qualifications

• Work with HS coaches and follow the Varsity Track program guidance
• Model appropriate behavior and CPS student-athlete well-being
• First Aid and CPR certification prior to 2027 season
• Pass background check

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have background in the area of Track & Field
• Must possess basic knowledge of the fundamentals in all field events and running with the ability to teach and demonstrate to students
• Must be willing to work closely with and follow the direction of high school varsity coaches in implementing the teaching of fundamentals as prescribed by the Varsity Track program
• Must be able to design and implement short term and long term goals for the entire track program while maintaining the principles of Middle School athletes
• Design a daily and weekly practice schedule with specific goals for team and individual development
• Must work with HS coaches in conducting home track meets, including HS events
• Effectively communicate with players, parents, and administration
• Must model appropriate behavior, promoting at all times the social, emotional, and moral well-being of CPS student-athletes
• Must be First Aid certified prior to the start of the 2027 season
• Must be CPR certified prior to the start of the 2027 season
• Must adhere to the Athletic Code for Coaches, as stated in the MHSAA Handbook
• Pass background check

PREFERRED

• Coaching experience, 2+ years
• Willing to aid in fundraising activities
• CAP 1 or CAP 2 trained by the start of the 2027 season
• Have or willing to obtain CDL license
