Job summary

Young World Physical Education is seeking a highly motivated HS Varsity Head Track Coach to oversee both the Girls and Boys Track Program. You will be responsible for developing effective training strategies, mentoring student-athletes, and ensuring their safety during practices and meets.

The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of track rules, previous coaching experience, and possess necessary training certifications. As a positive role model, you will foster teamwork and discipline while helping athletes develop their skills.

This position is a Supplemental Annual Limited Contract, and applications are processed online.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Evidence of successful past coaching experience at the High School and/or College level desired.
• Provide satisfactory result of County Police Records Check and State BCII Check.

Job Description

COACHING RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversee all aspects of the Girls and Boys Track Program including tryouts, practices, and track meets.
• Develop and execute an effective training program.
• Motivate and mentor student-athletes on and off the track.
• Instruct and guide student-athletes in fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success.
• Instruct and guide student-athletes to lead them to the formulation and enhancement of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence.
• Foster teamwork, discipline, respect, sportsmanship, and skills development.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of student-athletes.
• Cooperate, in a timely manner, with School Athletic Director and the District Athletic Department in regard to requests for information that might be pertinent and/or periodically required.
• Meet all requirements mandated by the District Board of Education, The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA), and The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) relative to the mandated Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) Training/Certification and the ODE Pupil Activity Permit (PAP).
• Check the status of academic eligibility for all prospective student-athletes.
• Follow the District Athletic Department Policies as outlined in the Coaches Handbook and meet all criteria as outlined in the job description.
• Model the behavior expected of our student-athletes including timeliness to practices and games, being positive and enthusiastic, being respectful, and practicing constructive criticism while upholding the disciplines of the program.
• Maintain a suitable sideline conduct, including the use of appropriate language, at all times.
• Accept and profit from constructive criticism and suggestions for improving coaching performance.
• Recognize the need to be aware of, and implement, all applicable administrative policies set forth by the District Board of Education, Superintendents of Schools, School Principals, Conference Leagues, ODE, and OHSAA.
• Provide all applicable in-season training rules as well as any that may apply to out-of-season conduct to student-athletes prior to the start of the season. Follow appropriate due process procedures when violations occur.
• Participate in Clinics and other available programs to improve coaching performance.
• Participate in School events (i.e., Awards Night, Pep Assemblies, Athletic Boosters Meetings, etc).
• Assist in ensuring that the team is well-prepared for opponents.
• Maintain accurate inventory of equipment and supplies.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

TRAINING/CERTIFICATIONS:

• Ohio Secondary Teaching Certificate preferred.
• Evidence of successful past coaching experience at the High School and/or College level desired.
• Provide satisfactory result of County Police Records Check, State BCII Check, and FBI Fingerprint Background Check.
• Possess an Ohio Department of Education (ODE) Pupil Activity Permit (PAP).
• Provide proof of completion of Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) Training/Certification.
