Job Summary
To serve the needs of special services students in the Big Hollow School District #38.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Program, Functional Analysis of Behavior, and Behavior Intervention Plan. Development occurs at least once a year, with daily implementation.
- Coordinate services, IEP minutes, goal updates, and communication with home among team members.
- Understand formal and informal educational assessment processes and utilize various assessment strategies to support student development.
- Recognize student needs and collaborate with professional staff to address social, emotional, physical, and academic difficulties.
- Attend and participate in parent/teacher conferences.
- Maintain ongoing communication about students’ needs and upcoming meetings, providing prompt responses to parents.
- Collaborate with administrators, general education teachers, support staff, and paraprofessionals regarding student needs and respond promptly.
- Participate in building and district meetings to enhance articulation and programming.
- Assist in problem-solving and developing instruction for both special education and general education students.
- Communicate expectations and goals to students and their families, including strategies for achievement.
- Support transition points (e.g., changing grade levels, transitioning to middle school) to facilitate smooth transitions for children, families, and staff.
- Demonstrate knowledge of general education curriculum, grade level expectations, and state standards.
- Collaborate with general education teachers on assessment, curriculum adaptation, behavior management, and monitoring progress.
- Monitor progress of students with disabilities and adjust instruction as needed.
- Develop, implement, and monitor behavior management and instructional programs tailored to students' needs.
- Create safe, respectful, engaging, and inclusive learning environments.
- Select and adapt materials suitable for diverse student populations and skill levels.
- Assess developmental, cognitive, and social needs, providing appropriate instruction.
