Job summary

Olympic View Middle School in Mukilteo, WA is seeking a paraeducator to assist teachers with planning, preparation and delivery of instruction for students with diverse learning needs. You will supervise students at recess, in the cafeteria, and during bus routines, and help with IEP-related supports and personal care.

The role requires basic WA Para qualifications and experience; preferred is experience with students with disabilities.

Qualifications

• Basic WA State Para qualifications and experience working with children.
• Preferred: experience working with children with disabilities.
• Education pathways include degrees or PESB assessments as listed in qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher(s) with the daily supervision of students for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.
• Under the teacher’s direction, administer tests, collect data, update records, and assess progress.
• Monitor student behavior and progress; share observations with teachers and staff.
• Support implementation of strategies to meet diverse student needs and growth goals.
• Provide clerical and general classroom assistance such as data entry, copying, and materials prep.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Associate degree or higher

72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher

Completed apprenticeship as paraeducator

Passing PESB approved assessments (ParaPro, Pearson Paraprofessional, Master Teacher Paraeducator Online Training)
