Job summary

A public charter school network is seeking a 7th/8th Grade Humanities Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year to foster curiosity and critical thinking among students. As a 7th/8th Grade Humanities Teacher, you will inspire curiosity, foster critical thinking, and help students develop a deep appreciation for literature, history, and other humanities subjects. Through differentiated instruction and a collaborative approach, you'll contribute to building a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities

Instructional Planning & Delivery

• Plan and deliver daily effective differentiated instruction
• Demonstrate knowledge of resources, student needs, curriculum (Wit & Wisdom and Fundations), content, and pedagogy
• Set clear instructional outcomes and design assessments to track student progress.
• Engage students in learning through creative questioning and quality discussions.

Classroom Management & Environment

• Set instructional outcomes
• Communicate directions, expectations, procedures, and content with students.
• Establish a culture of learning by managing procedures and behavior effectively.
• Maintain up-to-date records of student behavior and progress.

Student Engagement & Family Collaboration

• Foster an ongoing relationship centered on hopes and dreams to engage parents and families in their children’s academic success.
• Use data to inform and tailor instruction to meet diverse student needs.

Professional Growth and Development

• Participate in the Center City PCS learning community via PLCs, campus/district professional development, and weekly campus-based grade-level planning sessions.
• Reflect on instructional practices by incorporating feedback and adjusting teaching strategies accordingly.

Collaboration and Communication

• Attend occasional school events outside of regular hours.
• Engage families by building positive relationships to support the student's academic and personal goals.

Compliance and Professional Expectations

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records
• Following school-wide procedures for attire, behavior, and punctuality (teacher hours are 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM)
• Attend and participate in occasional school events outside of regular school hours
