Job summary

A public charter school network is seeking a 7th/8th Grade Humanities Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year to foster curiosity and critical thinking among students. The ideal candidate will develop lesson plans that engage students in literature and history and maintain effective classroom management to create a supportive learning environment. As a 7th/8th Grade Humanities Teacher, you will inspire curiosity, foster critical thinking, and help students develop a deep appreciation for literature, history, and other humanities subjects. Through differentiated instruction and a collaborative approach, you'll contribute to building a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities
Instructional Planning & Delivery
  • Plan and deliver daily effective differentiated instruction
  • Demonstrate knowledge of resources, student needs, curriculum (Wit & Wisdom and Fundations), content, and pedagogy
  • Set clear instructional outcomes and design assessments to track student progress.
  • Engage students in learning through creative questioning and quality discussions.
Classroom Management & Environment
  • Set instructional outcomes
  • Communicate directions, expectations, procedures, and content with students.
  • Establish a culture of learning by managing procedures and behavior effectively.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of student behavior and progress.
Student Engagement & Family Collaboration
  • Foster an ongoing relationship centered on hopes and dreams to engage parents and families in their children’s academic success.
  • Use data to inform and tailor instruction to meet diverse student needs.
Professional Growth and Development
  • Participate in the Center City PCS learning community via PLCs, campus/district professional development, and weekly campus-based grade-level planning sessions.
  • Reflect on instructional practices by incorporating feedback and adjusting teaching strategies accordingly.
Collaboration and Communication
  • Attend occasional school events outside of regular hours.
  • Engage families by building positive relationships to support the student's academic and personal goals.
Compliance and Professional Expectations
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records
  • Following school-wide procedures for attire, behavior, and punctuality (teacher hours are 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM)
  • Attend and participate in occasional school events outside of regular school hours
