Job summary

The Board of Education of Charles County is seeking a Career Coach to guide middle school students in exploring careers, pathways, and credentials. Qualifications

• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to teach, advise, mentor, and collaborate with a wide range of learners and stakeholders.
• Proficiency in a language other than English; Spanish preferred.
• Knowledge of career development, counseling principles, group dynamics and instructing.
• Ability to compile, analyze, and present statistical reports and data.
• Ability to organize work, set priorities, and manage time in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to build relationships with state officials, partners, and customers.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and collaborate career development activities for students in grades 6-8.
• Implement the career advisory program via Xello at middle school level.
• Provide professional advisement on apprenticeships, pathways, credentials, and work experience.
• Analyze student data from Xello and other platforms and report findings.
• Proctor interest surveys and advise on CTE programs.
• Collaborate with school counselors to support post-secondary plans.
• Work with WDB/CSM to create career programs and opportunities.
• Teach a variety of skills to individuals and small groups (tech, study, time management, writing).
• Interact with students in person and in breakout spaces; maintain strong communication with families.
• Develop partnerships with community members for work-based learning; gather feedback and report outcomes.
• Occasional weekends/evenings for career exploration events.
