Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools is seeking an assistant coach for middle school athletics to coach 7th and 8th grade teams after school. Responsibilities include planning practices, teaching fundamentals, promoting sportsmanship, and coordinating with athletic staff on equipment and safety procedures.

Requirements include high school diploma and at least two years of experience as an assistant coach; must be 21+ per WIAA guidelines; First Aid and CPR certifications are required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent; two years coaching experience as assistant coach.
• Must be 21+ years old per WIAA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Supervises student athletes to promote learning through athletic activity.
• Plans and implements a program for the sport; teaches fundamentals and safety; communicates rules and schedules to parents.
• Organizes practice sessions for 7th–8th grade four days/week and 6th grade two days/week; maintains records; promotes sportsmanship.
