Job summary

Ridgefield Academy in Ridgefield, CT seeks basketball coaches for Middle School girls and boys (Grades 6-8) for the winter season (Nov 23, 2026–Mar 2, 2027). You will lead practices, keep rosters, and mentor student-athletes in sportsmanship while coaching games weekly.

Commitment is Mon–Thu 2:30–3:30 p.m. Games around 3:45 once per week; no Friday or weekend events. Stipend ranges from $2,500 to $3,500 depending on experience.

• HS diploma or GED; pursuing undergraduate degree.

• Organize and lead practices to develop fundamentals, form and stamina.
• Maintain rosters and team records.

• Coach games and motivate student-athletes per athletic philosophy.
• Monitor safety conditions and enforce coaching handbook rules.
• Coordinate with Athletic Director as needed.

Ridgefield Academy is an independent co-educational day school serving grades Preschool-Grade 8. We are seeking basketball coaches for our Middle School girls and boys basketball program for Grades 6-8. The positions are for the winter season beginning on November 23, 2026 and ending on March 2, 2027

Responsibilities Include:

• Organizing and leading practices to help improve athlete’s fundamental skills, form and stamina
• Maintaining rosters and team records
• Mentoring players to develop sportsmanship and respect for the game
• Coaching games and motivating student-athletes consistent with the school’s athletic philosophy
• Being aware of safety conditions
• Adhering to the school’s mission and abiding by the coaching handbook
• Communicating as needed with the Athletic Director

Requirements:

• Must have prior experience coaching basketball
• Must provide references and pass a background check
• Must have a High School diploma or GED and holding or pursuing an undergraduate degree

Coaching commitment is Monday through Thursdays from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Games are scheduled on those days at 3:45 averaging once a week. There are no Friday or weekend commitments.

This is a stipend position based on experience at $2500 - $3500 for the season.
