Job summary

Lockwood School is seeking a Middle School Girls Basketball Coach to lead and develop a competitive program emphasizing skill development, teamwork, and character. Positions include 7th Grade Head Coach, 8th Grade Head Coach, and Assistant Coaches, reporting to the Athletic Director.

The role requires planning practices, coaching during sessions and games, and upholding school policies while fostering sportsmanship and student growth. Background checks and district certifications are required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Basketball rules, techniques, and coaching principles.
• Previous coaching and/or playing experience preferred.
• Ability to work effectively with middle school-aged students.
• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Ability to pass all required background checks and complete district-required certifications

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct daily practices that focus on Basketball fundamentals, teamwork, and game strategy.
• Coach student-athletes during practices and competitions.
• Foster good sportsmanship, discipline, respect, and a positive team culture.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all student-athletes.
• Communicate effectively with players, parents, school staff, and the athletic director.
• Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, travel, and other team activities.
• Maintain and inventory team equipment and uniforms.
• Follow all school, district, and state athletic policies and regulations.
• Encourage academic success and model positive leadership and professionalism.
• Attend required coaches' meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities
