Job Description

General Education Middle focuses on K12-powered virtual middle schools with 6-8 programs offering courses in English, mathematics, the physical sciences, history, world languages, art, music, and remedial programs. Responsible for relationship building with families, students, and learning coaches to ensure that all students are progressing successfully through the program. Bachelor’s degree, 0-1 year of related professional experience.

Required Certificates and Licenses: Missouri Art Teaching Certification Required

Residency Requirements: Missouri Residents Preferred

The Art Teacher is a highly qualified, state-certified educator responsible for delivering specific course content in an online environment. Teachers provide instruction, support, and guidance, manage the learning process, and focus on students’ individual needs. Teachers monitor student progress through Stride K12’s learning management system. They work closely with students and parents/learning coaches to advance each student’s learning toward established goals. Teachers typically work from home but must travel occasionally for school functions, such as state testing or as required.

The mission of Missouri Digital Academy (MODA) is to provide an exemplary individualized and engaging educational experience for students by incorporating school and community/family partnerships, coupled with a rigorous curriculum and a data-driven, student-centered instructional model. This is a full-time position. Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week, is required. Must maintain a professional home office environment during work hours, typically 8-5 or as defined by the school.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences for students.
  • Personalizes learning for all students.
  • Believes in all students’ ability to succeed and meet high expectations.
  • Differentiates instruction based on student mastery levels.
  • Uses appropriate tools to augment course content under guidance from principal and coach.
  • Maintains grade book, makes student placement and promotion decisions, and alerts administrators to concerns.
  • Prepares students for standardized tests.
  • Establishes and maintains positive rapport with families, communicating regularly and responding promptly.
  • Supports learning coaches/parents with curricular and instructional issues, troubleshooting as needed.
  • Travels approximately once per month for professional development, testing, or as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Active state teaching license
  • Ability to clear background check

  • Experience with the target age group.
  • Experience supporting adults and children with technology.
  • Experience teaching online or in a traditional setting.
  • Familiarity with online learning platforms.
  • Ability to interpret student data and collaborate with colleagues.
  • Receptive to coaching and feedback.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to ensure student success.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Quick learner of new technologies and platforms.
  • Maintain certification and professional development hours.

Compensation & Benefits: Salary range approximately $37,866 - $56,798, based on experience and location. Benefits may include health coverage, retirement contributions, and paid time off.
