Job description

To participate in a remote work arrangement, employees must reside in the United States. No remote work arrangement will be considered for working from outside the United States.

Each course at Herzing University is thoughtfully designed to introduce new concepts, build upon prior knowledge, provide supportive resources, allow students to validate and remediate personal mastery of the content, and assess student development of competencies and learning objectives. The faculty member is responsible for guiding students through the learning process within a course.

Qualifications:

• A Master's degree in a healthcare-related field
• At least one of the following certifications:
  • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) through the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)
  • Certified Coding Specialist-Physician Based (CCS-P) through AHIMA
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) through the American Association of Professional Coders (AAPC)
• Current industry experience in a healthcare setting is essential.
• Minimum of two years of healthcare operations experience related to insurance billing and medical coding.
• College-level teaching experience in insurance, billing, and medical coding.

Preferred experience includes:

• At least two years teaching in a remote online setting with LMS experience (Blackboard, Canvas, etc.)
• At least five years of industry experience in coding

Physical Requirements:

• Remain stationary for 50% of the time.
• Move readily around campus, classrooms, clinical settings, etc.

• Travel for off-site meetings or clinical observations.
• For clinical programs, additional physical abilities include standing/walking for extended periods, reaching, finger dexterity, normal vision and hearing, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
