Job summary

NorthernBio is seeking a Neuropsych Technician II to provide necropsy support in our Muskegon, MI facility. You will set up studies, perform perfusions and prosections, prepare tissues, manage samples, and mentor entry-level technicians.

This role involves anesthesia administration, tissue handling, and hands-on use of necropsy equipment. Responsibilities include data sheet creation, labeling, LIMS use, and collaboration with study directors to ensure protocol endpoints are met.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience with High School Diploma/GED or 1 year of experience with undergraduate degree in a related discipline preferred.
• LAT certification preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office core applications and the ability to learn and use additional applications.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Intermediate understanding of laboratory operations and data collection, knowledge of GLP's and other federal regulations relating to the care and handling of laboratory animals.
• Intermediate understanding of study design and protocols and the ability to efficiently and consistently produce quality tissues/samples to meet protocol endpoints.

Responsibilities

• Necropsy study setup including data sheet creation, labeling, and use of LIMS.
• Use of necropsy equipment and troubleshooting for maintenance and procedures.
• Collaborate with Study Directors on draft protocols and pre-initiation meetings.
• Advanced euthanasia including drug administration and catheter placement.
• Advanced prosection of tissues/organs including DRG, spinal cord, and heart.
• Sample collection including urine, blood, and CSF.
• Necropsy data and book review.
• Stocking, inventory, and ordering of necropsy supplies.
• Maintenance of advanced necropsy equipment.
• Mentoring and training entry-level necropsy technicians.
• Intubation/extubation, anesthesia induction, and assessing depth.
• Drug calculations and administration including injections; prepare solutions and fixatives.
• Other duties as assigned.
