Job summary

NorthernBio in Muskegon, MI is seeking a Senior Necropsy Technician to lead necropsy procedures, oversee tissue collection, and mentor Technicians I & II. You will ensure study timetables are met and liaise with other departments to communicate expectations and needs.

The role requires hands-on lab work, excellent communication, and a solid foundation in GLP and regulatory care of animal studies. Schedule flexibility is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 3 years of experience; or undergraduate degree with 4 years of experience.
• LATG certification preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related software.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Knowledge of GLP and federal regulations for lab animals.
• Understanding of study design and tissue/sample production for endpoints.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and train Necropsy Technicians I & II with training records and documentation.
• Perform advanced euthanasia including drug administration and catheter placement.
• Prosect tissue/organs including DRG and spinal cord.
• Collect samples (urine, blood, CSF) and process tissues.
• Conduct advanced tissue processing including brain/eye.
• Review daily study data and deviations; support SOP/protocol review.
• Act as point technician for photo management, documents, and scheduling changes.
• Set up necropsy with LIMS, records, cassettes, and tubes.
• Identify and lead process improvement opportunities.
• Own equipment troubleshooting and drug calculations.
• Prepare samples for shipment and ensure compliance.
• Perform intubation/extubation and assess anesthetic depth.
