Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. in Batesburg-Leesville, SC is hiring a mid-level Diesel Technician to perform maintenance and repairs on heavy-duty vehicles. The role offers $26.00 per hour, a Monday–Friday schedule, and a comprehensive benefits package after 30 days.

Expect also a certification bonus, quarterly bonuses, and opportunities for professional growth. CDL-A preferred; must obtain CDL within 6 months of hire; drivers must pass Ryder tests and screenings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational or Technical Certification preferred.
• Basic tools, required.
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines.
• Routine preventative maintenance including oil changes, brake and tire work.
• Two years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience, preferred.
• Valid CDL Class A, preferred; must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire.
• Pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test, and background check within last 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
• Performs standard vehicle maintenance.
• Performs standard component inspections and repairs.
• Performs preventive maintenance.
• Diagnoses mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic tools.
• Identifies root cause and performs repairs as required.
• Replaces defective components as instructed.
• Interacts with customers/drivers to determine nature of the complaint.
• Uses Shop Management System and electronic documentation.
• Adheres to safety, DOT, MOT guidelines.
