Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Mid Shift Supervisor in the MICU to lead nursing teams in a fast-paced 14-bed unit treating high-acuity adult patients. You will support the manager in delivering high-quality care, oversee staff scheduling and ensure compliance with clinical policies and regulations.

The role requires an RN license in the appropriate state, a BSN, and at least two years of nursing experience, with management experience preferred.

Qualifications

• RN licensure in appropriate state is required.
• BSN degree is required for advancement.
• Minimum of two years nursing experience preferred.
• Previous management experience preferred.
• BLS certification required within policy guidelines.
• For those without BSN, enrollment in BSN within 1 year of Hire/Transfer and completion within 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Supports the manager to improve nursing practice, service administration and care delivery.
• Assists with interview, selection and supervision of nursing staff.
• Coordinates regular communications across shifts via meetings/huddles.
• Ensures compliance with federal/state laws and policies.
• Performs patient rounds to assess satisfaction and care quality.
• Delegates care tasks to appropriate staff per policy parameters.
• Identifies expected outcomes to guide continuity of care and department operations.
• Evaluates progress toward goals and shares updates with the team.
• Performs nursing care, assists with treatments, therapies and medications as needed.
• Manages patient flow and staffing based on volume and acuity.
