Job summary

Synchron in San Diego is seeking a highly hands-on Microfabrication Technician to support the development and fabrication of next-generation neural interface devices.

You will work closely with engineers to build microfabricated components, refine prototypes, and learn new fabrication techniques in a fast-moving R&D environment.

The role requires an associate degree or equivalent hands-on experience, strong manual dexterity, and the ability to document processes carefully in a dynamic setting.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent hands-on microfabrication experience.
• Strong manual dexterity with precise, detail-oriented work.
• Experience with microfabrication or cleanroom processes is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in polymer or thin-film processing and soldering.
• Comfortable in evolving R&D environments and documenting work.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate polymer films, coatings, and microfabricated components using spin coating, spray coating, curing, lamination, and handling.
• Perform microscope-based precision assembly including alignment, bonding, trimming, and inspection of small components.
• Learn and operate laser-based and advanced fabrication equipment used for cutting, joining, and processing device components.
• Develop fixtures, jigs, and tools to support rapid prototyping and improve process repeatability.
• Collaborate with engineers to build prototypes, troubleshoot fabrication issues, and improve manufacturability and yield.
• Maintain build records and organize laboratory documentation and environment.
