Qualifications

• Associate degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology or Chemistry required
• National Certification as a Microbiology Technologist required
• State license where required in designated states (e.g., CA, FL, GA, HI, LA, MT, NV, NY, ND, RI, WV)
• Thorough knowledge of microbiology, serology and infectious disease processes
• General knowledge of laboratory accreditation and regulatory compliance requirements
• General knowledge of laboratory billing guidelines
• Excellent communication skills
• Effective teamwork
• Problem solving and decision-making abilities
• Ability to prioritize and organize work

Responsibilities

• Perform specimen processing, microbiology, serology and infectious disease testing under supervision
• Ensure timely, compliant testing following policies and accrediting standards
• Perform preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment
• Apply laboratory medicine concepts and independent judgment to ensure accurate results
• Adhere to quality control and assurance processes
• Act as a resource to peers and customers and model teamwork
• Assist in orientation, training and competency documentation
