Job summary

Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC is seeking a part-time Medical Technologist I for the Microbiology Laboratory. The role supports complex microbiological testing and collaboration with pathologists and clinicians to uphold safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities include QC, testing across routine and specialty areas, and accurate reporting within policy. The position offers a non-exempt schedule of 24 hours per week with a pay range of $27.17–$43.47 per hour.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or a related field.
• ASCP MT(ASCP) registry or equivalent (e.g., H/C).
• Core Lab, Hematology, and Chemistry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interact with pathologists, clinicians, and laboratory staff during testing and training sessions; liaise with accrediting organizations as needed.
• Perform QC and complex patient testing; maintain competency across routine, specialty, and assigned areas.
• Test patient and QC materials and report results per departmental policy.
