Job summary

Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC seeks a Medical Technologist Generalist I to perform routine and complex testing across Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank, and Microbiology, reporting results to guide patient care. This role supports a Level 1 Trauma Center and a nationally recognized academic medical community.

Required: BS in Clinical Laboratory Science or related field; ASCP MT/HC within 1 year; strong quality, safety knowledge; ability to work evenings/nights/weekends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or a related science field.
• Must obtain ASCP MT or HC registry within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex diagnostic testing across Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank, and Microbiology.
• Report accurate results and ensure timely Turn-Around-Times (TATs).
• Participate in lab inspections and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Maintain inventory, calibrate and troubleshoot equipment as needed.
