Job summary

MicroGenDX in Texas is seeking a Laboratory Technologist I (CORE-ORTHO) to perform testing on core and Ortho samples for microbial detection. You will ensure proper processing of Ortho study specimens and monitor sample acceptability while complying with all policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

You will perform DNA/RNA extraction, Real-time qPCR, and Biofire GI panel tests, maintain instruments, document QA/QC activities, and report results.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Biological Sciences with 1 year of experience in all areas of specialty (bacteriology, mycology, mycobacteriology, parasitology, virology).
• Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences.
• Master’s degree in Biological Sciences.

Responsibilities

• DNA/RNA extraction of clinical samples including host depletion.
• Real-time qPCR/rtPCR testing for bacteria, fungi, and viruses.
• Biofire GI panels on clinical samples.
• Maintaining instruments and cleaning laboratories.
• QA/QC documentation and activities.
• Result reporting.
• Reagent aliquoting.
• Assisting in test development and validation studies.
• Tracking positivity rate for Ortho samples.
