Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology.
• Meet CLIA requirements 42 CFR.493.1489

Responsibilities

• Conducts routine molecular diagnostic assays including PCR, RT-PCR, multiplex PCR, and other FDA-approved or laboratory developed tests.
• Conducts routine and specialized microbiological procedures including bacteriology/yeast isolation and identification, Gram stain and susceptibilities.
• Responsible for equipment preventive maintenance and function checks; performs corrective actions when necessary.
• Ensures patient sample stability and proper processing; takes corrective action when errors are detected.
• Performs quality control procedures to ensure validity and analytic performance of results; troubleshoots per protocols.
• Maintains turnaround time (TAT) goals and participates in proficiency testing activities.
• Maintains proficiency and competency in performance for Microbiology and Molecular testing menus.
• Trains staff to analyze and review results (1st review).
• Participates in inspections readiness and onsite reviews by regulatory agencies.
• Communicates effectively with coworkers and leadership; documents and reports results accurately.
