Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution.
• Meet CLIA requirements 42 CFR.493.1489

Responsibilities

• Conducts routine molecular diagnostic assays including PCR, RT-PCR, multiplex PCR, and other FDA-approved or laboratory developed tests.
• Conducts routine and specialized microbiological procedures including bacteriology/yeast isolation and identification, Gram stain and susceptibilities.
• Responsible for preventive maintenance and function checks of equipment, and corrective action when necessary.
• Ensures patient specimen stability, proper sample processing and corrective actions when errors or rejections occur.
• Performs quality control procedures to ensure validity and analytic performance of test results.
• Takes part in regulatory inspections readiness and onsite inspections.
• Maintains proficiency and competency in performance for Microbiology and Molecular testing menu.
• Train to analyze and accurately review results (1st review).
• Communicates effectively with coworkers and department leadership.
