Job summary

A-TEK, Inc. in Texas City seeks a Senior Scientist/Team Leader to perform non-research biological work using DNA extraction and real-time PCR to rapidly identify potential threat agents. You’ll handle QA/PT samples, maintain GLP, and deliver technical reports to the Lead Biological Scientist.

Requirements include a Master’s or Ph.D. in microbiology or molecular biology (or a Bachelor’s with 4+ years PCR experience).

Qualifications

• Master’s or Ph.D. with at least 1 year PCR/aseptic technique experience.
• Or Bachelor’s + 4 years of PCR and biological assays with leadership.
• Experience serving as a Senior Scientist or Team Leader preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handle, receipt, and processing QA/PT samples with potential biological agents.
• Prepare reagents and samples; ensure GLP compliance.
• Maintain CoC; perform data entry and results interpretation.
• Calibrate, clean, assemble, and maintain lab equipment.
• Process internal swabs for QA/QC and contamination monitoring.
• Dispose of biohazard waste and restock supplies.
• Support inventory and BW program logistics; document QA activities.
• Follow SOPs and QA/QC programs; maintain training records.
• Adhere to regulatory and security guidelines, including government facility visits.
• Prepare written and oral technical reports for Lead Biological Scientist.
