Job summary

Eurofins USA Food Testing in Missouri is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor for the microbiology department. You will assist the Business Unit Manager in daily operations, schedule staff, supervise analyses, and ensure timely, accurate results for client samples.

Responsibilities include maintaining quality systems, training staff, reviewing data for technical accuracy, and coordinating instrument maintenance, while upholding safety and regulatory requirements in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of supervisory experience in a related field.
• BS Degree plus 2+ years’ laboratory experience.
• Experience in laboratory procedures, data analysis, computer operations, mathematics, and technical/business writing.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates and promotes the company vision.
• Regular attendance and punctuality.
• Assist the Business Unit Manager in managing daily operations of the microbiology department including scheduling, supervising, instructing, monitoring, and assisting in the performance of manual and instrumental analyses.
• Perform timely and accurate analysis of samples to meet customer commitments.
• Has authority to execute a work stoppage in the event of a quality issue that would require the lab to stop operations until investigation gives assurance that work can begin.
• Work with direct supervisor or director to commence work as a result of a work stoppage.
• Use appropriate quality measures, which meet or exceed the standards, set by government regulations and company requirements.
• Promote the company image through ethical business practices.
• Understand and follow Quality System documents relevant to responsibilities.
• Perform microbiological testing on client samples using appropriate instruments and techniques as workload requires.
• Troubleshoot equipment/instruments utilized and perform minor repairs.
• Coordinate major instrument repairs with repair person(s) and local quality representative.
• Establish and implement procedures to ensure that assigned equipment is properly cleaned, calibrated/standardized, and adequate for testing.
• Ensures all regulatory procedures pertaining to sample testing are followed correctly.
• Maintain a neat and accurate record system; keep accurate records of work performed.
• Assist laboratory staff in making sure that analytical work done under quality system requirements.
• Review and evaluate test data for technical accuracy and SOP compliance.
• Investigate non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
• Review and validate technical data for ready-to-report results.
• Review applications, conduct interviews, and make hiring decisions for the position.
• Train staff on test methods and SOPs.
• Review annual performance of personnel and provide feedback.
• Remain current on technical, industry, and business advancements.
• Maintain readiness to respond to clients and colleagues’ needs.
• Adhere to health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Conduct all activities safely and efficiently.
