Job summary

St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Kentucky seeks a Laboratory Technician to perform specimen processing, shipping, and basic waived/moderate testing under supervision.

You will receive and log specimens, prepare them for analysis, assist technologists, and ensure proper safety procedures across the lab. This role emphasizes respect, compassion and accuracy as you support patient care and contribute to reliable laboratory results.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED is required.
• CLIA Section 493.1421 requirements must be met.
• Computer literacy and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepares, packages, labels, and sends out specimens as directed by procedures.
• Receives specimen from pneumatic tube system and centrifuges as needed.
• Centrifuge blood and urine specimens for analysis.
• Aliquot specimens and prepare for analysis.
• Performs waived and moderately complexity testing per CLIA and reports results per protocol.
• Provides support to technologists and maintains instruments.
• Receives and logs specimens from various sources and transports them to laboratory sections.
• Adheres to universal precautions and safety policies; maintains clean work area.
