Job summary

EMSL Analytical, Inc. seeks a Laboratory Analyst (Microbiology) in San Leandro, CA. No laboratory experience is required; on-the-job training will be provided to learn standard laboratory practices and procedures.

The role involves preparing and analyzing microbiological samples, reporting results, entering data into LIMS, and maintaining equipment. Candidates must have a Life Science degree and be able to work full-time, Mon–Fri, with strong attention to detail and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Life Science (Biology or Microbiology preferred).
• US work authorization without sponsorship.
• Lab experience is a plus.
• Experience with spore traps, direct microscopic examination, culture-based microbiology, bacteriology, or mycology is a plus.
• Ability to work with phase contrast and light microscopes, analytical balances, biosafety cabinets, filtration manifolds, and adhere to sterile techniques and good lab practices.
• Ability to distinguish colors for analysis.
• Strong time management; multitasking; and teamwork.
• Shift: full-time, Mon–Fri 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze microbiological samples (air, water, bulk materials) for fungi and bacteria.
• Use classical and advanced methods for microbial and bio-aerosol analysis.
• Generate analytical reports and enter data into the LIMS system.
• Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot lab equipment as needed.
• Perform QA/QC practices as per the QA/QC manual.
• Handle administrative duties including sample login, data entry, scanning, emailing reports, and phone coverage.
• Other duties as required by the manager.
