Job summary

Goldbelt, Inc. seeks a Microbiologist II to conduct advanced research on poxviruses, diagnostic assay development, and related laboratory studies. The role involves in-vitro work, tissue culture, and animal studies in BSL-2/3 environments.

The candidate will write study plans, validate assay components, and train team members, with a focus on publication-quality results and data integrity for potential government contracts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in microbiology, virology, molecular biology, immunology, biotechnology, or related field.
• 3-5 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain CDC Public Trust Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic in-vitro work including viral inactivation, nucleic acid extractions, real-time PCR, and tissue culture techniques.
• Lead in-vitro studies in the BSL-2 and BSL-3 laboratories.
• Participate in poxvirus animal studies in BSL-2/BSL-3.
• Develop and validate diagnostic assay components including master mixes and primers/probes for poxvirus PCR assays.
• Train laboratory personnel in diagnostic and research assays.
• Maintain detailed laboratory records suitable for peer-reviewed publications.
• Propagate and purify poxviruses for assay validation and research uses.
• Analyze data from laboratory investigations and outbreak-response activities.
