Job summary

Goldbelt Professional Services LLC is seeking a Microbiologist II to perform virology diagnostics, sequencing, and phylogenetic analyses in a high-containment laboratory setting. You will contribute to genomic sequencing and diagnostic assay development while training others and collaborating with international partners.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's in microbiology, virology, molecular biology, genomics, biotechnology, or closely related field.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain CDC Public Trust Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Perform virus diagnostic testing, including real-time RT-PCR assays.
• Perform genomic sequencing using Sanger and NGS technologies (e.g., Nanopore).
• Perform phylogenetic analysis of viral sequences for typing and surveillance.
• Develop and validate diagnostic assays with advanced technologies.
• Train laboratory personnel in diagnostic assays.
• Lead and collaborate on international research activities and capacity-building.
• Maintain detailed lab records and prepare results for peer-reviewed publication.
• Maintain reagents and space; propagate and purify viruses as needed.
• Analyze data from investigations and outbreak responses.
• Communicate findings through presentations and manuscripts.
