Job Description

The Micro-Perf Machine Operator is responsible for safely producing quality perforated wood veneer and high‑pressure laminate products through the Micro‑Perf Machine. The role requires setting up the machine, maintaining it, ensuring safe work practices, and completing all required paperwork.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Produce customer orders, inventory, product samples, and prototypes.
  • Ensure safety and well‑being of self and associates in the facility.
  • Maintain high attention to detail, accuracy, and quality of work.
  • Operate the Micro‑Perf Machine, keeping the work area safe for all.
  • Communicate with team members to meet safety, quality, and delivery expectations.
  • Accurately maintain paperwork for all incoming and outgoing products.
Specific Skills Required
  • Understand MDs, set‑up sheets, purchase orders, and take‑offs.
  • Identify cut, match, and species of veneer.
  • Set up the machine independently.
  • Identify quality defects and color discrepancies in veneer.
  • Maintain machine lubrication and perform greasing.
  • Replace broken pins and diagnose their failure.
  • Disassemble/reassemble tooling and fine‑tune adjustments.
  • Schedule sharpening and prepare tooling.
Qualifications
  • Dependable, punctual, good attendance, self‑motivated.
  • Enjoys operating equipment and meeting desired output.
  • Mechanically inclined and able to troubleshoot and make micro‑adjustments.
  • Ability to communicate and work safely with others.
  • Read, understand, and follow purchase orders, standard work sheets, manufacturing drawings, routers, and travelers.
  • Start up, shut down, and adjust the machine.
  • Follow written instructions and retain information.
  • Work overtime as required.
  • Read & understand Safety Data Sheets.
  • Some knowledge of wood products and finishing preferred.
  • 1‑3 years of past manufacturing experience preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
Physical Demands

Stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; occasional sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Frequently lift up to 25 lbs, occasionally up to 50 lbs. Required vision includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Operates in a manufacturing setting with hot/cold temperatures, uneven surfaces, cords, tools, intermittent loud noises, dust, or dirty conditions. Required PPE: safety glasses, hearing protection, steel‑toe shoes, and department PPE.
